Meet Phuc Vo
Meet Phuc Vo, a 2022 graduate of East High School in Kansas City Public Schools and an outstanding alumnus of PREP-KC's Pathways to Technology program.
While in Pathways to Technology, Phuc earned three Market Value Assets: worked with a team to complete a client-connected project redesigning the website for the Kansas Association of Biology Teachers; completed a Cerner Scholars internship; and earned a second paid internship at T-Mobile, working on web and full-stack development.

The Excitement of Workplace-Based Learning
Phuc joined Pathways to Technology as a junior in 2020, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, he only began attending class onsite at Oracle Cerner during his senior year. For Phuc, every day spent onsite felt special.
"Every day felt like a field trip because you got to go to this cool building with big windows. That feeling did not wear off for me; every day, getting on that school bus and going on the highway made me feel like the coolest senior ever. It was great."
Finding Direction Through Projects
Phuc's participation in hands-on projects at Oracle fueled his passion for computer science and created a clear career direction. "The projects gave me a sense of direction with my career because, before that experience, I was really torn between mechanical engineering and computer science."
The Result? A Head Start on Higher Education
Thanks to his experiences in Pathways to Technology, Phuc is on track to finish his bachelor's degree in just three years. "Pathways to Technology gave me a head start on college and allowed me to navigate university courses with confidence."
