College & Career Liaison
Position Overview
The College and Career Liaison plays a vital role in advancing PREP-KC's mission to prepare Kansas City students in our urban school districts for college and career success. This individual will work closely with schools, volunteers, families, and community partners to deliver high-quality college- and career-readiness experiences for students. The Liaison serves as a connector among PREP-KC staff, educators, and business and community partners to ensure smooth coordination and impactful engagement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Marketing, Recruitment, and Retention
- Design and communicate regularly with volunteers via newsletters, e-blasts, and social media campaigns.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective volunteers and follow up individually with current volunteers to maintain volunteer retention.
- Schedule and attend new partnership meetings (in-person & virtual).
- Support PREP-KC's Volunteer Engagement Committee.
- Co-coordinate PREP-KC's Annual Volunteer Celebration.
- Support PREP-KC's Volunteer Orientation.
- Manage social media sites (Facebook and LinkedIn).
- Assist with creating end-of-year volunteer thank-you emails/videos and with recommending/recognizing top volunteers.
- Assist in collecting and reviewing student and volunteer feedback surveys.
- Maintain and organize photos, quotes, and other media from event programming.
- Assist with volunteer record-keeping and database maintenance as needed.
Experience Coordination and Management
- Provide key oversight on event coordination and volunteer needs for large-scale, pre-planned experiences.
- Engage in outreach to volunteers to ensure all event volunteering needs are met (for in-person and virtual events).
- Communicate event details, reminders, and post-event thank you emails to volunteers.
- Attend and support event facilitation in tandem with the school coordinator, serving as a PREP-KC point of contact and ensuring event success (in-person & virtual).
- Manage volunteers' expectations and support a positive experience before, during, and after each event.
- Monitor the event calendar and upcoming volunteer needs.
- Support volunteers in creating virtual profiles and session onboarding.
- Capture photos, videos, quotes, artifacts, and other media and items to help tell the story of PREP-KC's volunteer events.
- Collect notes and impressions of events, strengths, and areas for growth to continuously improve programming.
- Assist with finalizing event preparation materials as needed (student handouts, volunteer tip sheets, volunteer-provided media).
- Presence at worksite and college visits as needed.

Skills & Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher preferred (or commensurate work experience).
- Excels at building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Salesforce or other CRM software is a plus, or experience in learning new technology.
- Experience managing multiple projects, timelines, and a comfort level with ambiguity.
- Strong commitment to PREP-KC's mission of supporting diverse students.
- Strong "team player" attitude; willing to support outside of typical job responsibilities as needed.
- Adequate knowledge of and commitment to upholding diversity, equity, and inclusive values.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Access to reliable transportation is a must.
